Although there is currently a lot of uncertainty and concern about how Brexit will eventually turn out. At Port Shipping we have been busy preparing for the worst-case scenario!

Over the past 18 months we have been implementing the following procedures: –

  • Training new employees in all aspects of Import / Export documentation.
  • Upgrading and expanding our computer hardware and software to handle the expected significant increase in HMRC Import/Export documentation that will occur when UK exits the EU on 29/3/19?
  • Acquired extensive warehousing and parking facilities within 1 mile of Dover docks.

Therefore, although it is still very unclear the effect Brexit will have on businesses in the UK, we at Port Shipping will be prepared!

To make sure you are prepared, we strongly urge our customers to have the following information/documentation in place:-

To ensure the smooth transit of goods your shipping department must provide the following information:

  • Importer
  • Exporter
  • Goods Description
  • Packaging Details
  • Weight
  • Sales Value & Currency
  • Incoterm
  • Country of Origin
  • EORI Number
  • Commodity Codes

Do you have an EORI number?

You must have an EORI number to Import/Export goods in/out of the UK. It’s a simple procedure, so if you do not currently have one, apply now at –

Do you know your commodity codes?

You need to use the correct commodity codes to ensure you apply the correct rate and amount of duty to HMRC. Find out at:
